And I think the reason for that is that the signal to noise ratio of most code is quite low, at least in terms of learning from the code.

I don't mean that most code serves no purpose, but I do think that the majority of code you read isn't going to teach you new things.

I'm not suggesting reading code is a bad idea. However, I do think that it may not be the best use of your time.
